Today's spike in new cases took the overall caseload in the country to over 2.86 crore, while the death toll due to the deadly pathogen also climbed up to near 3.45 lakh-mark after more than 3,300 fatalities were recorded in the same span of time. In the last 24 hours, active cases decreased by 80,745.

Two new cases were reported in the Renfrew County and District Health Unit. The country had reported 1,15,736 new cases of COVID-19 on April 6. Since then, the new COVID cases rose exponentially and reached their peak at over 4.5 lakh in May starting.
In closely watched indicators, the seven-day rolling average per 100,000 population was 31.9, the per cent positivity of testing was 3.5 and the reproductive number was 0.86.

The Union Health Ministry has informed that almost 22,78,60,317 vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
OPH reported 31 new cases of COVID-19 Saturday, a drop from the 55 new cases reported Friday, for a total of 27,265 cases during the pandemic.
