Potentially shining a light on why prosecutors have not yet leveled homicide charges against accused rioters, the D.C. Medical Examiner's Office reportedly released a ruling on Monday finding that Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick died of natural causes after suffering two strokes the day after the January 6th siege.
The chief medical examiner, Francisco Diaz, said Monday that an autopsy of Sicknick found no evidence the 42-year-old suffered an allergic reaction to chemical irritants.
Arrest papers sayKhater and Tanios were at the Lower West Terrace of the Capitol at 2:14 p.m. on January 6, where Sicknick and other officers were standing behind metal bicycle racks.
The newspaper noted that "the ruling, released Monday, likely will make it hard for prosecutors to pursue homicide charges in the officer's death".More news: Alex Ferguson has given his reaction to the new European Super League
Two men - George Tanios and Julian Khater - are facing charges they assaulted three police officers, including Sicknick, by spraying them with a chemical irritant.
On Feb. 2, however, CNN reported investigators said it's unclear why Sicknick collapsed the night of the riots, but failed to find signs the officer "sustained any blunt force trauma", let alone by a fire extinguisher.
The report notes that Sicknick "collapsed after returning to his office during the riot and died about eight hours later".

The other deaths that day were not at the hands of the rioters, in fact, the only person we know died violently, Ashli Babbitt, was shot by police, who will not be charged. He was interred at Arlington National Cemetery.
"The attack on our officers, including Brian, was an attack on our democracy", police officials said in a statement.
"Give me that bear shit", Khater allegedly told Tanios, as recounted in court papers.

Sicknick's death, attributed to pro-Trump rioters, was a leading excuse for a federal law enforcement crackdown on every protester physically at the Capitol that day, regardless of whether they committed violence. They spilled his blood, they took our son away from his parents.
