Los Angeles County continued to urge patience Friday among residents anxious to get a COVID-19 vaccination, with supplies remaining woefully short and the overburdened online reservation system leaving many people frustrated as they try to schedule appointments.

That's according to an analysis released Wednesday by the county's Department of Health Services, which found that the chance someone will die from the disease while hospitalized increased from about 1 in 8 in September and October to roughly 1 in 4 since early November.

California reported a one-day record of 764 COVID-19 deaths on Friday but the rate of new infections is falling. The numbers do not reflect admissions per day nor the length of hospital stay.

The Shelby County Health Department reported 21 new COVID cases in the last week.

Do the approved COVID-19 vaccines prevent you from spreading the virus to others? Health officials noted Thursday that the average daily number of new cases had dropped 30% over the past week.

It was the first time since November 7-11 that the state reported fewer than 5,000 cases three days over a five-day period.

2,560 Pfizer vaccines were administered on that day.

Green County Public Health is continuing to vaccinate those individuals who are a part of Tier 1A of COVID-19 vaccine distribution. More importantly, it is unclear to us why approximately only a quarter of the doses the state has received have been administered to Virginians so far. "This approach will ensure those who are highest risk of severe illness and death receive the vaccine first", said Dr. Bonnie Henry".

Adding to the confusion is a hodgepodge of systems and differing requirements in the state's 58 counties. He also noted the need for much of the medication to be used as second doses for people who have already received the first shot.

Vaccination efforts ramped up significantly this week with eligible groups being expanded to include all adults 65 and over and five "mega pod" vaccination sites opening in the County. "President Biden looks forward to working with leaders in both parties to position America to out-compete China."Hua, from the Chinese foreign ministry, responded on Friday by accusing the Trump administration of having imposed thousands of sanctions on China. She said Beijing's measures were "completely appropriate and necessary, fully demonstrating the Chinese government's firm determination to safeguard national interests"."We have long said that unilateral sanctions harm others and hurt oneself, and just like a boomerang, sooner or later it will fly back", she said."McCaul's comments fully expose how some United States politicians only allow the United States to engage in arbitrary suppression and do not allow others to justly defend themselves against bullying, hegemony and hegemonic logic". "We have a new federal administration that has pledged to make this happen".
