For those whose Friday plans include tearing up, you've come to the right place.

"His dog "Boncuk" has followed him to the hospital gate and refused to leave for six days until her owner was discharged", Ercan said in a statement.

She then made daily visits to the facility, private news agency DHA reported yesterday.

When Cemal Senturk was transferred by ambulance to Medical Park Hospital in Trabzon on January 14, his dog, Boncuk, escaped from their apartment and followed him to the facility, where she waited patiently each day.

Hospital security guard Muhammet Akdeniz told DHA: "She comes every day around 9am and waits until nightfall".

One loyal pet was left alone temporarily after her owner went into emergency surgery. Boncuk would peek into the building every time the door opened, checking for some sign of her best friend, always keeping watch.

On finding the pup waiting outside the hospital, Senturk's family took her home but she ended up running back to the hospital.

For those who are thinking about getting a dog or cat, please consider adopting from an organisation such as the SPCA or DARG.

Eventually, Mr Senturk was released from hospital and reunited with an excited Boncuk at the hospital gate.

A year ago in December, a 30-seconds long video of a loyal dog that had refused to eat or drink anything as he waited for his deceased owner in China melted the internet user's hearts.

Senturk told DHA: "She's very used to me".

Fortunately for them both, the waiting is over - Senturk was discharged later that day, and the two returned safely home.

Photographs showed Mr Senturk looking in adoration at his pet dog as she wagged her tail with excitement. "And I miss her, too, constantly".

"It makes a person very happy. They provide companionship just like humans and they make people happy".
