In his second season as the Eagles' head coach, Pederson won Super Bowl LII (also against the Patriots), marking the first Super Bowl title in Eagles franchise history. The Eagles made the playoffs two more times, losing in the NFC Divisional Game in 2019 and then the wild-card round in 2020.
(Pederson) wanted to fill the empty offensive coordinator position with pass game coordinator/quarterbacks coach Press Taylor, replace Taylor with pass game analyst Andrew Breiner, and bump up defensive line coach Matt Burke to defensive coordinator, an Eagles source said.
The afterglow of Super Bowl bliss soon wore off, however, and came to a head this season when the Eagles finished the season 4-11-1, their worst season since they went 4-12 at the end of the Andy Reid era in 2012. He wins a Super Bowl and has to listen to a guy who took JJ Arcega-Whiteside and Jalen Reagor over DK Metcalf and Justin Jefferson.

There were also heads scratched over Pederson's decision to insert Nate Sudfeld (benching Jalen Hurts, while Carson Wentz was inactive) in the Week 17 loss to Washington.
Shortly after news of Pederson's firing broke, NFL Media reported, "Pederson was sick of people telling him what to do".
Pederson was 42-37-1 in five seasons.

But yesterday Chris Mortensen from ESPN put out a report that Pederson's initial meeting with owner Jefrey Lurie did not go well. Pederson had a 4-2 playoff record with Philadelphia. He has already been linked to the Jets, where former Eagles vice president of player personnel Joe Douglas is the team's general manager. This is huge news for the Eagles and for Carson Wentz.
In Philadelphia, the Eagles will join six other teams in pursuing coaching candidates. "I know that we have work to do to get back to where we want to be, but I also believe that we have an exceptionally strong group of people in this organization who can help set us up for future success".
