Microsoft Will Let its Employees To Work From Home Permanently

Not all employees will be able to take advantage of the new policy, however, including those who work in Microsoft's hardware labs, data centres an in-person training.

The company will pay home office expenses, but if the workers choose to move away from the office location, they will have to bear those costs on their own.

The guidance also states that employees will be able to request to relocate domestically, or even internationally, if their role allows.

Working at Microsoft might be quite fulfilling now for those hoping to continue work-from-home (WFH) forever now. "We shared guidelines internally this week to provide options for our employees to plan ahead for when we can return to the workplace safely", the statement said. Software giants are competing in the release of cutting edge software, but the problem is whether employees should work in-office or continue to work from home.

Hogan added that with respect to work hours, which meant the hours and days when employees work, for example, workday start and end times, full- or part-time, work schedule flexibility is now considered standard for most roles. As always, Office remains a vital subscription for creatives and office workers alike. The company originally made it a choice before mandating remote work as the pandemic worsened. Ford and Target also revealed this week that their employees will be allowed to work remotely until at least July 2021.

The shift follows the decision of tech giants rivals like Facebook and Twitter.

Before the pandemic only 2 percent of workers were remote full-time, according to Bloom. After almost a year of working from home, that's understandable.

'We have invested significant funds and resources to keep those who choose to come to the office safe through physical distancing, deep cleaning, temperature checks, and by providing face coverings and hand sanitizer'.

Research has found that working from home is not only favored by many people, but it also promotes productivity.

Twitter and Square, for instance, will allow employees to work remotely in perpetuity, and Facebook is predicting that up to 50% of its staff going forward will work remote. A number of high-profile companies, including Twitter, Shopify, and Slack, have all agreed to let employees work from home on a permanent basis if their position allows it.

The company's CEO Satya Nadella this week spoke about the difficulties of remote work and said that it can sometime make you feel like you're "sleeping at work".

In a bid to address it, the company launched the "virtual commute" to aid employees transition from work to home life.
