Netanyahu, who has congratulated Biden, thanked Pompeo for his "unwavering support" of Israel, first as Central Intelligence Agency director and then secretary of state, while claiming that under Trump the US-Israeli relationship "reached unprecedented heights".

Senior Palestinian and Israeli officials today held their first high-profile meeting since the resumption of relations between the two sides after around six months of breakup and it was agreed that Israel would transfer Palestinian tax funds withheld since May.
The visits came a year after Pompeo broke with decades of US foreign policy to announce that the United States under Trump no longer viewed Israel's settlements in the West Bank as "inconsistent with global law". Pompeo announced that the USA would now consider exports from much of the West Bank as "Made in Israel".
Trump's outgoing administration has made isolating arch foe Iran a centrepiece of its regional policy.
The envoys were originally recalled after PA President Mahmoud Abbas said that the two countries had "betrayed" the Palestinian cause by announcing normalization with Israel in August and September, respectively.

But the Trump administration recognized it a year ago.
Palestinians criticized Pompeo, saying the USA was helping Israel to cement its control over West Bank lands.
Syria's foreign ministry called Mr Pompeo's visit a "provocative step", warning that "such criminal visits encourage [Israel] to continue its risky hostile approach".
Mr Pompeo also said Washington would designate the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign as "anti-Semitic", which calls for a wide-ranging embargo against Israel over its treatment of Palestinians.
