Starting with AFCON 2021 in Cameroon, President Ahmad Ahmad confirmed the tournament will be moved to January 2022, while the African Nations Championship (CHAN) will be played out in January 2021. The decision left CAF with fewer dates to try and complete the competition's qualifying campaign and then finalize the field for the 24-team flagship football tournament in Africa.
"The CAF Executive Committee is satisfied with t the Cameroonian authorities for their commitment towards the hosting of the two competitions".

The Cup of Nations were due to be held from January 9-Feb.
In a separate decision, CAF cancelled the 2020 Women's Africa Cup of Nations due to "challenging conditions" and will instead launch a Women's Champions League in 2021.More news: Brighton vs Manchester United Preview: Pressure on Reds continues
In their statement, CAF said that the semi-finals of the Champions League and the Confederation Cup will be changed to a single-leg format.
