Half-Life: Alyx scores - our roundup of the critics

Set between the events of Half-Life and Half-Life 2, Alyx Vance and her father Eli secretly mount the resistance to the brutal occupation of Earth by a mysterious alien race known as The Combine. While every previous Half-Life has focused on delivering experiences through our monitors, Half-Life: Alyx exclusively uses VR to immerse the player in a way traditional gaming can not.
VR can be financially heavy for most players, but the way that this console is being explored, it might be worth a shot. Half-Life 2 is one of the most celebrated games of all time, but the stress of creating Source 2 created issues as the studio tried to move on to new projects, and Valve Level Designer Dario Casali recently revealed that was a big part of why a new Half-Life game didn't happen for a long time after Half-Life 2: Episode 2 was done.
Half-Life: Alyx is out now on Steam, where according to PlayTracker, more than 300,000 people have already bought it. VR specialist website Road to VR awarded the game a ideal score, noting that "Alyx feels like a Half-Life game through and through as it successfully shifts between combat, exploration, puzzles, and even some notable horror".

This is a great way for you to play the game without having to worry too much about getting an expensive VR and relying on current headsets you might have. "I would like to believe that we are as good as ever at building Half-Life right now, and I hope we will continue to do something else".
