Representative Jim Jordan, a staunch Trump ally and leading Republican opponent of the inquiry, said Thursday that Republicans intend to subpoena the whistleblower to testify in public. The person offered to answer written questions directly from Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee - on the condition that his or her identity would still be hidden but verified by the inspector general of the intelligence community.
Next week, the House Intelligence Committee will start public impeachment hearings - something Jordan, as House Oversight Committee ranking member, wasn't supposed to be a part of. Trump has denied any wrongdoing.
