While you could barely find the entrance to the 2019 SEMA auto show through clouds of thick tyre smoke from Ford Mustangs doing burnouts and drifting demonstrations in the vehicle park, the company took a green approach inside the Las Vegas exhibition halls.
Ford has already teased us with a Mustang-inspired electric SUV, now it has taken the covers off an electric version of its most famous muscle vehicle. Instead, the two partner together on one of the show's most aggressive sports cars, an electrified Mustang capable of developing 900 hp and 1,000 lb-ft. And rounding out the list of mods are 6-piston Brembo brake calipers residing within Roush's own forged wheels. It also receives Ford's Performance Track Handling Pack, adding modified front struts and track lowering springs that lower the auto to be approximately one inch closer to the ground, as well as six-piston Brembo front brakes.More news: Billy's FaceTime with Sean Spicer After He Survives Another Week on 'DWTS'

Under the bonnet, the typical Mustang V8 is replaced with a Phi-Power dual-core electric motor that's paired with an 800-volt Webasto electric battery. Ford distributes all that torque with a fortified six-speed manual transmission, exploring the potential for a thrilling, engaging breed of electric sports vehicle as it gets ready for a production EV offensive. This allows the system to be lighter, more powerful and generate less heat, and more electric force than most battery-electric systems on the road today. Ford Performance half shafts and a Super 8.8 Torsendifferential further distribute power to the lightweight 20-in Forgeline wheels wrapped up in Michelin PilotSport 4S tires.
