If there's one film adaptation this year that's gonna be downright hard to pull off, it's Doctor Sleep.
Stanley Kubrick's psychological masterpiece, adapted from the Stephen King novel, made creepy twins and axe-murdering maniacs - who can forget Jack Nicholson's chilling line, "Here's Johnny!" - synonymous with the genre.More news: No hidden agenda in F1 stewards' decision, says Brawn
There's no doubt they are leaning in on the legacy of Kubrick's film here, with a number of precisely recreated scenes (the blood elevator is the only shot taken from the original film) and plenty of callbacks.
Ewan McGregor plays the role of Danny, who is all grown up and still dealing with the trauma he suffered while staying at the Overlook Hotel four decades ago.

Synopsis: Years following the events of "The Shining", a now-adult Dan Torrence meets a young girl with similar powers as his and tries to protect her from a cult known as The True Knot who prey on children with powers to remain immortal.
The movie stars Ewan McGregor as Dan Torrance, Rebecca Ferguson as Rose the Hat, and Kyliegh Curran as Abra.
Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. The job allows him to use his "shining" power for good, helping dying patients pass away peacefully, which earns the nickname "Doctor Sleep".More news: US formally asks UK to extradite WikiLeaks' Assange
While we'll never change our mind that making a sequel to Kubrick's film is a fool's errand, the layers and levels that movie operates on are truly insane, we're still happy to accept this on its own terms. No one ever fixed the hole in that door!
