The significant increase in illnesses reported just this week come as millions of Chinese travel for the Lunar New Year, one of the world's largest annual migrations of people.
Wuhan, the Chinese city at the centre of the outbreak, was placed under quarantine on January 22. Officials in nearby Huanggang, population 7.5 million, and Ezhou, which has around one million people, announced quarantines a few hours later. The 66-year-old man had travelled to the city state from Wuhan and is being held in an isolation room.
"The affected nurse is being treated at the Aseer National Hospital and is recovering well", he wrote on Twitter. Most cases outside China were people from Wuhan or who had recently traveled there.
World Health Organization officials announced Thursday that they will not be declaring a public health emergency of global concern, or PHEIC, in response to the coronavirus outbreak in China, despite the fact that isolated cases have surfaced in several other countries. Since the infection, dubbed 2019-nCoV, was identified in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in December, scientists have been working hard to gain an understanding of its origins and characteristics.

He said last time he went out, surgical masks were selling for a higher-than-normal price of $7 each. Anyone who suspects they have been exposed to the virus should immediately seek medical treatment if they start having trouble breathing, develop a fever, or have issues with coughing.
It is not yet known which hospitals are treating the patients.
Medical consumables such as surgical masks, protective clothing and disinfectant are running short.
Adhanom said the worldwide organization remains concerned about the outbreak in China, and understands that some in the region of the country that has been particularly affected already consider it a health emergency.
If it does so, it will be the sixth worldwide public health emergency to be declared in the last decade.

Speaking in Parliament, the Hancock said there were no confirmed cases of coronavirus in the United Kingdom so far.

The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), which is co-funding the emergency projects, said the plan was to have at least one potential vaccine in clinical trials by June.
