Sources told ESPN that the Rockets are hoping for action from the league and either reward them the victory or have the last 7 minutes and 50 seconds replayed at a later date.
In theory, if Harden's dunk was counted, overtime would not be required and the Rockets would have won 117-115. The ball went through the net and back over the rim before bouncing off with the referees mistakenly ruling that he missed the dunk. Officials ruled the ball didn't clear the cylinder, but crew chief James Capers said after the game that, "in fact it did clear the net and should have been a successful field goal".
The confusion was immediate - the referees called basket interference on Harden, arguing it had bounced off the Rockets star.
Harden played a season-high 49 minutes coming off a 60-point outing Saturday over three quarters against Atlanta, but he was whistled for two charges in the second overtime. "To have a successful field goal it must clear the net".

The NBA isn't going to have these teams replay the end of the game, especially when the Spurs have plays they can point to, including this missed backcourt violation by the Rockets that led to two points.
