Walker lifts Spurs; Rockets fall in 2OT despite Harden’s 50

Sources told ESPN that the Rockets are hoping for action from the league and either reward them the victory or have the last 7 minutes and 50 seconds replayed at a later date.

In theory, if Harden's dunk was counted, overtime would not be required and the Rockets would have won 117-115. The ball went through the net and back over the rim before bouncing off with the referees mistakenly ruling that he missed the dunk. Officials ruled the ball didn't clear the cylinder, but crew chief James Capers said after the game that, "in fact it did clear the net and should have been a successful field goal".

The confusion was immediate - the referees called basket interference on Harden, arguing it had bounced off the Rockets star.

Harden played a season-high 49 minutes coming off a 60-point outing Saturday over three quarters against Atlanta, but he was whistled for two charges in the second overtime. "To have a successful field goal it must clear the net".

Capers said that the play was reviewable, but the Rockets eclipsed the 30 second window for challenging the play. "So therefore, it elapsed, and they were not able to do it".

The NBA isn't going to have these teams replay the end of the game, especially when the Spurs have plays they can point to, including this missed backcourt violation by the Rockets that led to two points.

'I have no idea, ' D'Antoni said.

"I heard that they said the ball hit James and went back through, so it was a goaltend on James".

While I also get annoyed with all the fouls he picks up, I think his reply is hilarious and great. Then another guy said it wasn't a goaltend.

Lonnie Walker's electrifying breakout game will dominate most of the headlines but he wasn't the only one who played well. I said I challenge that. "I've got nothing. I can't tell you".

Bottom line, both teams had multiple chances to win this game, and the Spurs simply got it done. They got hot, made shots and we just didn't do anything to combat it'.

Point guard James Harden (right) of the Houston Rockets scored 50 points against the Spurs but it was not enough to secure the win.

"We just quit playing defence, we quit getting back, we turned it over silly and didn't get back".
