San Francisco 49ers defensive back Marcell Harris (36) strips the ball from Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (8) to cause a fumble in the second half of an NFL football game, Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, in Baltimore, Md. San Francisco's defense forced a Baltimore punt on their first drive, that included a big pass breakup by Fred Warner. The 49ers ran at will on a rain-soaked field, using shifty back Raheem Mostert to exploit poor edge play by the Ravens' outside linebackers. But, Garoppolo didn't make the plays he normally makes on third down, so the 49ers converted only 33 percent of those plays.
In turn, the 49ers went for it themselves at Baltimore's 35-yard line. His mistake was the difference in the game. They also met in the Super Bowl following the 2012 season, with John Harbaugh emerging victorious over his brother Jim, who was 49ers head coach at the time.
"You feel the urgency, you feel the intensity, the energy of the game and it feels like a fight", fullback Kyle Juszczyk said.
Jimmy Garoppolo went 15 of 21 for 165 yards for San Francisco. For the season, Mostert is averaging 6.1 yards per carry. Emmanuel Sanders was the top receiver for San Francisco with four catches for 41 yards. All three were solid. But, the Ravens made him a non-factor in the passing game. Coleman was held to just 6 yards on five rushing attempts.More news: Injuries, ejection drain No. 4 Georgia for SEC title game
Neither side of the ball played poorly. When Garoppolo stopped scrambling, the offensive linemen stopped giving up sacks. The 49ers abandoned the Wide 9, packed the defensive linemen tightly together and held the Ravens running backs to just 3.5 yards per carry.
Just two plays later, the Ravens capitalised as Jackson floated a high pass to tight end Mark Andrews and he came down with it from 20 yards out. The 49ers have 2,603 passing yards this season, which ranks 14th. His passer rating was 110.2. Richard Sherman played with tremendous courage and toughness, and made seven critical tackles. The turnover allowed Gould to tie the game at 17-17 after Garoppolo and company drove down the field and took eight minutes off the clock. This was the play of the game for the defense.
In fact, this game came down to Justin Tucker making both his field goals while Robbie Gould missed a hard try to end the first half. It was the second field-goal attempt blocked by Tennessee in the game. He couldn't find a way to stop Jackson from running - who can? - but, Saleh stopped everything else. "Hopefully we can earn an opportunity to maybe get a chance to play them some other time again". Saleh's stock is up.

Robbie Gould returned to action Sunday after missing three games with a right quadriceps injury. At the end of the first half, he wasted 40 seconds between plays and didn't leave his offense enough time to drive the field.
Up next, the Ravens travel to the 9-3 Buffalo Bills, while the 49ers visit the 10-2 Saints.
It would surprise no one if those games bore a striking resemblance to the one the Niners played on Sunday against the Ravens. This call was too cute.More news: Donald Trump faces two impeachment deadlines as inquiry shifts focus
