Since President Trump took office, military aircraft stops at Prestwick Airport have increased dramatically, according to Air Force statistics.
The House Committee on Oversight and Reform complained that it has not received information it requested from the Pentagon about the stay as it tries to determine why the airport has seen an increase in business since Trump took office.
Trump added: "Mike's family has lived in Doonbeg for many years, and he thought that during his very busy European visit, he would stop and see his family!"
The House Judiciary and Oversight Committees have asked for records regarding Pence's stay at the Doonbeg resort as well as Trump's suggestion that the 2020 G-7 summit be held at Trump National Doral Miami.

The committee is probing Trump's potential conflicts of interest related to the U.S. Constitution's Emoluments Clauses.
The inquiry is part of a broader, previously unreported probe into US military expenditures at and around the Trump property in Scotland.

"Between 2015 and 2019, AMC Total Force aircraft stopped at Prestwick a total of 936 times (*659 overnight stays), including 95 (*40) in 2015, 145 (*75) in 2016, 180 (*116) in 2017, 257 (*208) in 2018 and 259 (*220) through August 2019", his statement added. Turnberry is only booked if other hotels are unavailable or customers specifically request it. According to a letterthe panel sent to the Pentagon in June, the military has spent $11 million on fuel at the Prestwick Airport - the closest airport to Trump Turnberry - since October 2017, fuel that would be cheaper if purchased at a us military base.
He also defined the investigation along four specific lines: allegations that Trump illegally interfered with the Russian Federation election meddling investigation, that he took part in hush payments to alleged former mistresses, that he has used his office to enrich himself, and that he offered pardons to government and campaign officials to protect him.
