A Telstra network outage has thrown the nation into chaos, with Commonwealth, ANZ and Westpac banks, plus Woolworths and Australia Post experiencing issues across the country.

The problem has hit as Australian cities head into to busy peak hour commuter rush with most capitals also having Thursday late night trading.
"We know there are some issues with the following services: CBA ATMs, CBA EFTPOS terminals, some in branch services as well as issues logging onto the CommSec website", the spokesperson said.
Some users are reporting problems making eftpos transactions, but it appears the issue is with the connections to merchant payment terminals.
'EFT payments over $100 & Agency payments over $200, Bank@Post withdrawals, deposits and balance enquiries are affected, ' it said.
