iPhone with In-Display Touch ID in the works?

Apple is reportedly looking to embrace under-screen technology for the front-facing camera in the future, like the kind Oppo unveiled at MWC Shanghai.

As per a report by MacRumors, "The notch has been a controversial design decision since it debuted on the iPhone X in 2017, and it has always felt like a stopgap on the way to an iPhone with a truly edge-to-edge display, so these rumours certainly have some plausibility". Rumor has it Apple will have three OLED models in 2020, with 6.7-inch, 5.4-inch, and 6.1-inch displays. A fourth model has also been talked about, which would ditch Face ID, and would head to China, and Kuo could refer to this particular model.
Discussion of Apple removing 3D Touch has taken place since the beginning of the year, leading up to analysts from Barclay's Bank talking to suppliers in China about the subject in May, where it was stated the feature would not arrive on any 2019 iPhone. Apple's notch is big compared to rivals because of the True Depth camera system for Face ID, among other things.
