Family spokeswoman Cecilia Garcia confirmed a family statement posted on Facebook that 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Lopez's baby died Friday at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
In a photo released last month by the family, the baby is seen being held by his father, Yovany Lopez.
Pictures showed Yovanny in the arms of his father, while connected to multiple tubes and sensors.
Doctors wouldn't speculate on the baby's survival chances, but there was hope after he opened his eyes at the end of May. Once Ms Ochoa-Lopez had died, her baby was forcibly removed from her womb with a butcher's knife.
Ochoa-Lopez, ahigh school student, went to Figueroa's home at least twice this year after connecting through the Facebook group and accepting Figueroa's offer of baby items, Chicago police said.More news: Exhausted Thiem too tired for Halle
In May, Clarisa Figueroa, 46, and her daughter Desiree, 24, were both charged with first-degree murder and aggravated battery in Ochao-Lopez's death.
Ochoa managed to get her fingers under the cord around her neck before the woman strangling her, Clarisa Figueroa, yelled at her daughter, "You're not doing your [expletive] job!" according to Murphy. Later that day, Clarisa Figueroa called 911 claiming that she had just given birth. They say she plotted for months to acquire a newborn, and that she posted an ultrasound and photos of a room decorated for a baby on her Facebook page.
Authorities contend that not long after Clarisa Figueroa's adult son died of natural causes, she told her family she was pregnant.
Clarissa's 40-year-old boyfriend, Piotr Bobak, who also charged for concealing the murder. The neighbor said the woman told her, "I just had the baby, and it's not breathing".More news: Hundreds arrested at Russian rally for journalist
The accused, who remain in custody, will be asked to enter pleas to the charges when they are next in court on June 26. She denied the victim came to her house April 23 but admitted to meeting her in the past, police said.
Subsequent DNA tests revealed that Ms Ochoa-Lopez was the baby's mother.
Ochoa-Lopez's body was found in a garbage can in the backyard, along with the cable used to strangle her and other evidence, police said.
"Words really can not express how disgusting and thoroughly disturbing these allegations are", Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said last month.More news: Samsung's Mid-Range A-series Phones Are Coming to the US
