While Square Enix's Avengers project has been shrouded in mystery since its initial teaser trailer dropped in January 2017, the publisher finally pulled back the curtain on the upcoming Marvel game during its E3 2019 press conference on June 10.
Earth's most lucrative heroes will reassemble in May 2020 with Marvel's Avengers, Square Enix announced today, to kick off a story that'll unfold over several years of updates. The listing revealed the game would include both solo and four-player co-op gameplay as well as character customization options.More news: Cyclone Vayu likely to make landfall in Gujarat coast on Thursday
The trailer showed Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow and Hulk - but not the Marvel Cinematic Universe versions of themselves. Similarly, there's a kind of ever-so-slightly off brand Marvel humour from the trailer. Marvel's Avengers features the voice talents of Troy Baker (Bruce Banner), Jeff Schine (Captain America), Travis Willingham (Thor), Laura Bailey (Black Widow), and Nolan North (Tony Stark). However, when the rescue goes awry, the superhero group is blamed for the destruction and forcibly disbanded by the US government.
MCU fans can rejoice as Avengers have assembled not for a movie but for the game which you can play on Xbox or PlayStation. The game will continue to grow and evolve over the course of multiple years, adding new areas of the game, story content, and additional superheroes to the roster. Likewise, the assertion that there won't be "loot boxes or pay-to-win scenarios" smacks heavily of ongoing multiplayer games like Overwatch or Fortnite, and a reference to "new superhero [es] and region [s]" suggests a more open design than, say, Spider-Man.More news: Donald Trump Mocks Democrat Theater with 'Loser' John Dean

The new Avengers feels like the next stage in a new era for Marvel console games. Those who pre-order on PlayStation 4, however, get 7-day early access to the beta before it comes to other platforms.More news: Messi Unseats Mayweather on Forbes List, Canelo in #4 Position
