Iowa state officials are warning the public about "canine brucellosis", a bacterial disease that can spread from dogs to humans.
"We are in the process of notifying the individuals who have custody of the exposed dogs", the release said.

Kaisand said canine brucellosis can even be spread from infected dogs to humans.
"They spent their lives in these little tiny boxes breeding over and over and over, and to finally get out and get some freedom and have to die would be so tragic and very bad", Heinz said.
