ICC World Cup India team players 2019 announcement live updates: Indian selectors will meet on 15 April in Mumbai to pick the squad for the showpiece event.
The BCCI announced the 15-man squad representing India at the Cricket World Cup in England this year.
ICC World Cup 2019 is scheduled to begin from May 30 and it will last till July 14, 2019.
Here India's World Cup 2019 squad: Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma (vc), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Vijay Shankar, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (wk), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal.More news: Bucks roll past Pistons in series opener
"And in the second part of the tournament, when the wickets will be more dry, we felt Jadeja will be handy". We are not at all confused.
While Kohli said India are looking to fill just one more spot, the selectors would know that they have more than one spot to fill and various combinations to look at.
'After the Champions Trophy, we have tried quite a few middle-order batsmen, which also included Dinesh Karthik, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, ' said Prasad. Vijay Shankar also found himself in the squad and will most certainly occupy the hyped No. 4 slot. Rohit Sharma is the vice-captain who will be opening with Shikhar Dhawan. What Vijay Shankar brings is three dimensional.
Rahul' selection could also mean bad news for Karthik and Pant.More news: Harvick wins pole at Richmond Raceway
Rahul will fancy his chances as a back-up opener who can also bat at number four and his four 50-plus scores in the ongoing Indian Premier League could not have come at a better time.
Another possible headache for the selectors could be whether to settle for a third spinner in form of Ravindra Jadeja or the fourth pacer.
With Hardik Pandya and Shankar to perform the duties of a combined fourth pacer, there was no place for an additional specialist speedster in the line-up.More news: Japan says United States sailor kills woman, self on Okinawa
