Several snow-packed highways remained closed Friday in Nebraska, and forecasters warned that unseasonably low temperatures would remain through the weekend. Sergeant Jesse Grabow tweeted that he couldn't remember a day with as many tractor trailer incidents.
Blizzard conditions persisted in the northeast corner of Colorado on Thursday morning, but blizzard warnings were dropped for the rest of the state and Wyoming.
But the April storm just missed Colorado's capital city and Twitter was filled with condemnations of meteorologists on Thursday.

There are blizzard warnings in place over parts of Colorado, the Dakotas, Wyoming, Minnesota and Wisconsin as the storm forms.

Strong winds associated with the weather system were creating unsafe wildfire and travel conditions in New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma.
The Minnesota State Patrol said it had responded to more than 200 crashes statewide since Wednesday, while the National Guard stood ready to rescue any stranded motorists. But it's likely that at least a foot of snow will cover parts of South Dakota, northern Nebraska and southwest and central Minnesota, according to predictions.
In parts of the South, the National Weather Service warned church pastors to have someone monitor the weather during Sunday services amid heightened risk for damaging tornadoes.

More than 30,000 homes and businesses were without power in Minnesota, 14,200 in Iowa and 22,700 in MI by midday on Thursday, according to PowerOutages.us, a website that tracks power outages.

The system also created hazardous wildfire conditions in parts of Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
