Barr reaffirmed to members of the House Appropriations Committee that the first version of the report he plans to release - within one week, he said - would be redacted.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation has concluded, but countless questions remain about what he discovered. Now, the objective is to create a cloud of suspicion around Barr which, I guess, will cast doubt on the Mueller report.
"In rejecting this amendment and supporting the subpoena, you and your fellow Democrats created an untenable but politically convenient situation: force Attorney General William P. Barr to break the law to comply with your subpoena or label him as part of a cover-up if he does not", Collins wrote. While the four-page letter released by Barr said the special counsel did not find a criminal conspiracy between Russian Federation and Trump associates around the time of the 2016 election, it also said Mueller had presented evidence on both sides of the obstruction question and ultimately did not reach a conclusion on it. Barr has been working with top advisers and Mueller to prepare the almost 400-page report for public release.

Mueller's team, which was barely quoted in Barr's letter, has made clear that it did not exonerate the president.
Barr is set to return to the House and Senate for hearings focused on the Mueller investigation.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., said he was unsatisfied with Barr's answers to the appropriations panel, saying he could issue subpoenas "very quickly" if the report is released with redactions.
The chairman of the subcommittee, Democratic Rep. He falsely claimed that the Mueller report had found "no obstruction".
"I personally believe not all of it is going to be great for the White House", Burr said.
Trump's GOP allies in Congress are also hedging their bets by continuing to cast doubt on the origins of Mueller's investigation.

The host of the Fox News program, Maria Bartiromo, told Nunes that he "ought to be taking a victory lap here" after Barr's memo said there was no evidence of Russian collusion.
