The Flyers set a franchise record for shots on goal in a period with 28 but didn't register a goal until late in the third period. Dubynk made 21 saves on 26 shots.
"As a coach, there's different wins or games that you have during the course of the season that are real gut checks and how your team responds".
Spurgeon gave the Wild a 4-3 lead at 2:06 of the third period after video review determined the puck crossed the goal line before bouncing out of the net. With almost two full minutes of 5-on-3 time, the Wild were able to cash in, as Zach Parise beat Anthony Stolarz from the side of the net.

"I don't know why I'm not playing smart with five minutes left", said Malkin, who was playing his first game with Pittsburgh since January 30 due to injury. Jared Spurgeon threw a shot on goal from a sharp angle that appeared to hit the crossbar and come out of the other side. On replay, it showed that the puck had actually clipped Stolarz's mask, went under the bar and back out, resulting in a goal to make it 4-3.
Philadelphia tied it at 6:30 when the Wild got caught in a line change, leaving Giroux and Jakub Voracek alone on a two-man rush. He took a pass from Mikael Granlund at the left of the net and banked it off Stolarz for his team-leading 23rd goal of the season. Since being recalled from Iowa of the AHL on February 4, Kunin has three goals and seven points in five games.

"We've been through a lot this year and when things are not going as well as we like, we find a way to get some positive and take one shift at a time and try to bounce back", Couturier said. That's what I told the players: nobody quit and we just stayed with it. The teams will next play each other on February 23 in an outdoor game at Lincoln Financial Field, the home of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Five Flyers finished with two points - van Riemsdyk with the two goals, Couturier and Giroux with a goal and an assist and Gostisbehere and Sanheim with two assists each. Flyers goaltenders Brian Elliott and Michal Neuvirth (lower-body injuries), D Samuel Morin (knee) and F Pascal Laberge (hip surgery) are out.
