The Jefferson City News-Tribune reports that Miller County authorities announced Friday that 40-year-old Amy Murray, of Iberia, has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of her husband, Joshua Murray.
Murray allegedly placed her husband's lifeless body on their bed and started the fire before leaving with her dogs and child, according to the statement.
Police said the fire was set intentionally and autopsy results indicated that Joshua Murray died before the fire began, according to the Miller County Sheriff's Office.More news: Morocco freezes involvement in Saudi-led coalition in Yemen
The court documents showed that at the time, Murray was having an affair with a prisoner at the Jefferson City Correctional Center where she worked as a nurse, Fox 22 reported.
"It looked suspicious. The sheriff's office detectives came in with the fire marshal's office department and started investigating it and continued from there", Gregoire told Columbia ABC affiliate KMIZ.
Police said the pair talked of being married and in one conversation, Amy said they could be Wednesday because her husband was dead and "out of the picture", KMIZ-TV reported.More news: Osaka in shock split with coach
Murray is now being held at the Miller County Adult Detention Center on $750,000 bond.
Claypool was arrested in 2000 and has been behind bars for more than 18 years in the fatal stabbing of a 72 -year-old man who won $1.7million in the lottery. She and Claypool also discussed getting an attorney so Claypool could be released from prison early.
In another conversation she told Claypool she could marry him because her husband was dead and "out of the picture", ABC17news reported.
