This announcement builds on last year's efforts where Smart Downloads were added for Android and Windows 10 app users.

Smart Downloads will only work on WiFi so you don't need to worry about this feature eating up your data quota. When users finish watching a downloaded episode, Smart Downloads will delete it and automatically download the next one. And Netflix subscribers who don't want to use Smart Downloads can disable the feature. The app then also deletes the previous episode so you're not constantly filling up your data card with already viewed content.
Presently, that very same functionality has advanced over to Netflix's iOS app, ensuring that your "downloads" list is consequently populated with the following unwatched scene and cleared of the ones you've just gorged through. This feature manages videos downloaded for offline viewing. The feature ensures the user always has a couple new episodes to watch after the one they finished, as well, so that there's more than only one thing to watch if WiFi is unavailable to grab the next download. Then under the "Downloads" heading, use the toggle to turn Smart Downloads on or off.
This update comes after the feature was first rolled out to Netflix for Android in July past year.More news: The First Night of AAF Football
Netflix has recently been focusing heavily on offline access to its app to further expand its user base as the US market saturates.
More importantly, the Smart Downloads feature deletes the first episode after it has been watched before the fourth episode is lined up for downloading, making sure that users don't run out of storage space. In a statement to The Los Angeles Times, the company confirmed it was testing the feature.
