Israel concluded his news conference by revealing he plans to file a lawsuit and also intends to once again run for Broward County sheriff in 2020. The school's assigned sheriff's deputy also took cover behind the bushes while another deputy searched his trunk for a bulletproof vest instead of just confronting the shooter.
In December, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission, which is investigating the shooting, released its draft report.
