LG Electronics has redefined the television viewing experience with the introduction of the world's first rollable OLED TV at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019. Whenever the TV is not in use, the screen can automatically roll down.
Because bigger is always better in the technology industry, the 88-inch LG OLED TV features an 8K resolution, which utilizes a frankly huge number of pixels. Last year, LG released the amazingly thin Wallpaper TV and now engineers have managed to make it bendable enough to neatly fold away.
Han promised to expand the production of large OLED displays and develop new markets with differentiated products such as slim, rollable, transparent and crystal sound OLED (CSO) panels.More news: Woman unable to hear male voices over rare medical condition
LG are also using the deep learning capabilities to enhance sound quality. On Monday, Vizio and LG announced they were also adding support for AirPlay and HomeKit. Apple has traditionally been closed off when it comes to giving outside hardware companies access to its ecosystem, but it may recognize it as the key to growing its increasingly important services business, which includes apps, movies, TV shows and music.
"In Line View, users can choose from features such as Clock, Frame, Mood, Music and Home Dashboard", said the company. The screen has a 3.2.2 channel sound system embedded directly into the display panel which, when combined with Dolby Atmos technology, is reported to result in dynamic audio from a viewer's top, bottom, left and right. Users can use their voice to get things done with Amazon Alexa, a new addition to LG's AI TV lineup.
Although LG has undoubtedly saved plenty of news and announcements for its big conference, the company actually gave us a sneak peek at its 2019 TVs last week.More news: New Zealand vs Sri Lanka - T20 International Preview & Prediction
The other flagship from LG is the 8K 75-inch SM99 LCD TV which will bring 8K viewing to customers on a backlit screen rather than an OLED screen where each individual pixel generates its own light.
LG did not disclose pricing for the roll-up television.
There's also a mode LG calls "Line Mode" where the display will drop down so that only about one-fourth of the panel is showing to control on-screen music controls and home gadget apps.More news: Steph Curry leads all Western Conference guards in All Star voting
