Nielsen Music says streaming numbers for R. Kelly have almost doubled after a recent documentary accused the R&B singer of sexual misconduct involving women and underage girls. However, the state's attorney's office has said it has received calls about R. Kelly since Foxx's request, and is following up on those calls. "She essentially went up there and said, 'We have no evidence of a crime, but if someone would like to make something up, please call us'".
Speaking with Hip Hop Motivation in a video posted on January 5, 2019, Damon Dash, who's known for co-founding Roc-A-Fella Records with rapper Jay-Z and producer Kareem "Biggs" Burke, opened up about his knowledge of R. Kelly throughout the years. Women discuss how Kelly would then force them to move into one of his several houses (in L.A., Georgia and Chicago) where he would surveil them 24 hours a day, police their movements and force them into sexual situations.
"He just told me to take off my clothes and we would proceed from there", she said.More news: The Accidental Prime Minister: Delhi HC dismisses PIL against trailer ban
Dash further questioned why it took people "so long" to listen to all of the stories out there about R. Kelly when he'd known about them for years. Most infamously, Kelly was charged with child pornography in 2000 after the aforementioned video surfaced (Kelly was cleared in 2008 after that woman declined to testify against him).
Investigators' quieries come as the Lifetime series adds a new dimension to the sexual abuse allegations Kelly has faced for the better part of his almost 30-year career. In 2002, he was arrested after a video surfaced appearing to show him having sex with and urinating on a 14-year-old girl.
Gerald Griggs, lawyer of survivor Joycelyn Savage, told media he was contacted by the Fulton County District Attorney asking for a list of witnesses who could speak to events that occurred at Kelly's house in an Atlanta, Georgia suburb in 2017.More news: AT&T will sever ties with location aggregators as well
"Whether he gets jail time that's not up to me", he stated.
"The recent allegations against entertainer R. Kelly in the recent Lifetime documentary series are deeply, deeply disturbing", she said.
Multiple times in the past, Kelly has been defiant as criticism against him has crested, so such an appearance would not seem out of character.More news: Predicted Barcelona XI vs Levante: Youngsters’ time to deliver
