The decision was made a month after U.S. actor and comedian Kevin Hart stepped down as host of the Oscars after tweets he posted between 2009 and 2011 resurfaced, with offensive language towards the LGBT community.
As Variety reports, the ceremony will be kicked off by "one marquee name" who will deliver "a monologue filled with Trump zingers".
An appreciative Hart said he would reconsider his decision to return as host.
The comedian, 39, struck a defensive tone on on Good Morning America Wednesday morning, emphasizing that he was "done" discussing the topic.More news: Djokovic thrashes Murray in Open practice match
Hart dropped out of the annual award show in December after homophobic tweets he had shared years in the past re-emerged.
After a show of support from fellow comedienne Ellen Degeneres, rumors began to circulate if Kevin Hart would set aside his differences with the Academy and host the Oscars anyway. Kevin Hart arrives at the Los Angeles premiere of "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" in Los Angeles. It keeps going and every headline is "you apologized"... You've done it. Don't let those people win.
Strahan pushed Hart to offer more of a response beyond "I'm over it" and "I'm done with it", but he was met with more of the same. Some things are left out of your hands, so I'm done with it. "But I don't believe in going backward".
"No, I'm not hosting the Oscars this year", he later confirmed in ABC interview. Unless the Academy changes its mind, which doesn't seem likely given that the ceremony is only six weeks away as of this writing, this year's Oscars will be hostless. It remains to be seen how that will come together, but Variety says this year's plans include key changes that will require less time from a host anyway, so the absence of one may not be as strongly felt.
