While the previous-gen CLA is now on sale in India (priced between Rs 34.38-36.99 lakh, ex-showroom, pan-India), this secxond-gen model is unlikely to launch in our market.
Is now longer, wider and lower than before.
The interior, meanwhile, features a front end that has essentially been lifted nearly wholesale from the A-Class, complete with a wide, free-standing flatscreen display panel and turbine-style air vents.More news: Pete Davidson spotted leaving the Golden Globes with Kate Beckinsale
As with the A-class, the CLA also receives driver assistance systems originally seen on the most recent S-class, allowing the vehicle to drive semi-autonomously for the first time.
Comes with a smartwatch that can sync with the vehicle.
The second-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA has finally revealed itself to the world, looking more like a "CLS junior" than ever. No, don't get me wrong, it will still slot below the C-Class. The only other sedan with a better drag coefficient is the A-Class sedan (0.22). This makes the all-new sedan longer by 48mm, wider by 53mm but shorter by 2mm in height. Much like its hatchback brethren (the A-Class), the four-door now comes with an aggressive front fascia courtesy of flatter LED headlights, a sportier front grill and a more aerodynamic front bumper. Additionally, there is more space for the rear occupants as well. The dated dashboard has now been replaced by the MBUX dual-screen setup which made its debut in the all-new A-Class.More news: Malta reaches deal for 49 stranded migrants to disembark
The cabin which debuted with the all-new A-Class a year ago has replaced the older setup here. It is dominated by the MBUX system which comprises of two large floating screens (one being the instrument cluster and the other a touchscreen for infotainment) under one glass. Gesturing towards the rear-view mirror can also control the reading light.
Mercedes didn't say how much the CLA-Class would cost when it goes on sale near the end of this year, but it's likely to be more than current CLA's base price of roughly $34,000. Adaptive dampers are optional, as are 19-inch wheels. Under the hood of the CLA 250 is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four that is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
However, there will eventually be a broad range of petrol and diesel engines, Mercedes promises, some featuring 4Matic all-wheel-drive. Also, the narrower tail lamps give it a wider stance from the rear and an added sense of elegance. Like the A-Class, the CLA will offer a bevy of active safety systems but not many of them will be standard.More news: Special needs teacher drags autistic boy down hall
Plus, for the first time, the CLA will be able to drive semi-autonomously in certain situations. And thanks to a set of cameras and radar systems it can see up to 500 metres ahead. The systems fitted include active brake, lane keeping, and lane change assistance systems along with Pre-safe Plus, which can detect an imminent rear-end collision and prepare the auto for it.
