Conor McGregor has proclaimed compatriot Katie Taylor is an "Irish hero" after her dominant victory by unanimous decision over Cindy Serrano to retain both her IBF and WBA lightweight titles.
McGregor was clearly impressed and went back to Taylor's dressing room to personally congratulate her on the victory before later lauding her on social media.
Serrano tweeted after Taylor's win over her sister: "Congrats to Katie Taylor for her win tonight against my sister Cindy". So I would like to see her fight Rose Volante (the current WBO lightweight champion) next.
"She's that good, she's going to beat everyone". I'll back you, whatever you need. "But the most important thing was that I got a good win under my belt".More news: Mumbai Indians buy Quinton de Kock from Royal Challengers Bangalore
"Katie, you're a fuckin' animal, I'll tell you that", McGregor told the 32-year-old.
The judges' scorecards read 100-90, 100-90, 100-90 such was Taylor's domination for the duration of the fight as she continues to make the professional ranks look incredibly easy.
"I think Katie's next fight should be (Rose) Volante, (Delfine) Persoon, they're the two champions, those kinds of levels", he said.
She has won six world titles across different weight divisions, but recently declared she had retired from boxing in order to concentrate on MMA.More news: Brexit deal is 95 done, Prime Minister will tell MPs
