On Tuesday, Beijing announced a tariff hike on $60 billion of USA goods in response to President Donald Trump's latest decision to increase import duties on Chinese products in a dispute over Beijing's technology policy. "There will be nothing left undone".

With Wilmington still mostly an island surrounded by Hurricane Florence's floodwaters and residents waiting in hours-long lines for supplies, North Carolina's governor is pleading with thousands of evacuees to be patient and not return home just yet.

Waze told USA Today it was working with local governments and volunteer map editors to mark road closures in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

While he was born in New York, Jordan went to high school in Wilmington, North Carolina, and then attended the University of North Carolina before joining the National Basketball Association via the 1984 NB Draft.

In a bright spot, the Lumber River appeared to be falling in hard-hit Lumberton, about 70 miles (110 kilometers) inland.

Goldsboro was also still flooded.

North Carolina DOT officials have asked for days that out of state drivers to avoid driving in the state if possible.

The Cape Fear River near Fayetteville has quadrupled in depth, and it's only going to get worse.

On Tuesday night, the majority of hotels to the north of Fayetteville were fully booked as people rushed to escape the flood. Heavy rains and swelling rivers are still a major concern as rising flood waters may affect communities barely touched by Florence.

The city manager told CNN that 12,000 people are "in harm's way".

Florence has killed at least 33 people since coming ashore as a hurricane on Friday, including 26 in North Carolina and six in SC.

That news comes as authorities from Horry County Sheriff's Department in SC say two detainees drowned when a van was swept away in rising flood waters.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, had a letter containing the attempted assault allegation by Christine Blasey Ford in July, but did not take concrete action until last week, after the lengthy confirmation hearings had already taken place.

"I know it was hard to leave home, and it is even harder to wait and wonder whether you even have a home to go back to", Gov. Roy Cooper said as officials began distributing supplies to thousands of residents of Wilmington, population 120,000. Officials say the van was traveling near the Little Pee Dee River, one of the bodies of water officials in SC are watching closely as water continues to poor into the state from upriver in North Carolina following the heavy rains of Florence.
