Hostilities between the couple erupted again last week when the Tomb Raider star lodged court papers saying Pitt had not paid any "meaningful" child support since their break-up two years ago - a claim he strenuously denies. "Brad was asked to assist in the expense of a new home for Angelina and the children, but instead he loaned Angelina money, for which he is charging her interest on a payment plan".
In documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, the attorneys also said Pitt had loaned Jolie $8 million to help her buy a new home.
Pitt's lawyer, Lance Spiegel, slammed Jolie's claim in her filing, calling it "unnecessary, omits material information, and is a thinly veiled effort to manipulate media coverage".

The document added that he loaned Jolie Pitt US$8m to buy her current home, and has paid over US$1.3m in bills for the benefit of Jolie Pitt and their six children.
But on Tuesday, her spokeswoman said her filing was meant to provide closure to the marriage "and allow her and Brad to recommit as devoted co-parents to their children".
Piers Morgan called her intent to file for a retroactive child support order a "savage and public attack" on her Hollywood A-lister ex. But that wasn't enough for Jolie, who is asking for even more money as their divorce remains unsettled.

The "Maleficent" actress said on Tuesday that she wanted to expedite the divorce and return to single status by the end of 2018.
The divorce filing, citing irreconcilable differences, triggered a bitter custody dispute during which Pitt was investigated and cleared of child abuse.
This definitely bodes well for Jolie, though Pitt probably doesn't owe her much because they were only officially married for two years.
