According to police, Jones allegedly punched Sandor Szabo in the face following a confrontation in the early morning hours Sunday that began when Szabo knocked on Jones' vehicle window thinking it was his Uber ride. Szabo never regained consciousness and was taken off life support on Tuesday.
Security camera video shows Jones then leaving the area in a white SUV, police said.
Wake Forest University said Thursday night that they had just learned of Jones' arrest and would release a statement at a later time.More news: Browns kick off preseason against Giants
Szabo, a 35-year-old man from Boca Raton, Fla., was in town for a wedding. He was arraigned today on a misdemeanor assault charge and released on his own recognizance after entering his plea.
"The court made the proper ruling with the charges, and the District Attorney's office made the proper ruling with the charges", the lawyer, Alain Massena, said.

Jones joined the Demon Deacons staff last May after previous jobs at UCF, VCU and Florida Gulf Coast.
Szabo, also 35, was "super outgoing, friendly, and an incredibly smart businessman", his company, at What If Media Group, said. The Jones family sends their deepest condolences and sympathies to the Szabo family.
"He was always upbeat, positive, kind and caring", the company said in a Facebook post.
