Gowdy asked Strzok how many people he had interviewed as part of the Special Counsel before discussed impeachment for President Trump.
At the center of suspicion surrounding him are a series of text messages he exchanged with his lover, former Federal Bureau of Investigation attorney Lisa Page.
"I found Lisa Page to be far more credible than Strzok", Gaetz said.
"I think that at this point, public testimony is not on the horizon", said Meadows, adding that a public hearing is "not something I would advocate for".More news: New road signs can detect mobile phones are being used…
Democrats led by top Judiciary Committee Democrat Jerrold Nadler of NY on Friday continued to cast the Republican-driven effort as a campaign to undermine Special Counsel Robert Mueller's inquiry into Russian meddling and whether anyone in the Trump campaign was involved in it. Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, D-New Jersey, said, "I have never seen my colleagues so out of control, so angry".
"I have the utmost respect for Congress' oversight role, but I truly believe that today's hearing is just another victory notch in Putin's belt and another milestone in our enemies' campaign to tear America apart", Strzok said.
"It's much more sedate, much more calm", said Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, an Illinois Democrat. Democrats responded with a call to bring back before the committee former Trump adviser Steve Bannon, who was not forced to answer certain questions.
During the marathon hearing, Democrats staunchly defended Strzok.

She is scheduled to return for additional questioning Monday.
Strzok insisted under aggressive questioning that a much-discussed August 2016 text in which he said "we'll stop" a Trump presidency followed Trump's denigration of the family of a dead USA service member.
Meadows and others said they weren't ready to detail what new information she revealed about the text messages with Strzok - with whom she was romantically involved - as well as early Federal Bureau of Investigation actions and decisions in the Russian Federation inquiry.
Peter Strzok testified publicly for the first time since being removed from special counsel Robert Mueller's team after the discovery of derogatory text messages he traded with an Federal Bureau of Investigation lawyer. Last year, he was reassigned from Mueller's team after the compromising texts emerged. But they argued they are doing important oversight work holding the FBI accountable for how it handled the Clinton and Russian Federation investigations in 2016.More news: World’s ugliest dog dies weeks after winning title
