In a statement on Thursday, the Kremlin said the meeting between Putin and Velayati focused on regional security particularly the situation in Syria and the us withdrawal from the multinational nuclear deal with Iran.
Referring to his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier today, Velayati said that the message of Iran's Leader and president was delivered to the Russian official. Velayati was speaking at a forum in Moscow.
The United States pulled out of a multinational deal in May to lift sanctions against Iran in return for curbs to its nuclear programme.

Ali Akbar Velayati said that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei valued improving Iran's ties with Russian Federation. Tehran and Moscow already cooperate militarily in Syria, and have been instrumental in sustaining President Bashar al-Assad during the country's brutal seven-year civil war.
Velayati, who is also expected to visit China in the near future, described Trump as an "unreliable individual... with relation to worldwide law who necessitates more and more cooperation (between Iran and Russia)".
The Iranian presence in Syria is expected to top the agenda of Monday's summit in Helsinki between Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump.
