The nominations for the 70th Primetime Emmys held a clear sign of how much the ground is shifting under the TV industry: streaming service Netflix captured the most nominations overall, 112, taking away a title that HBO held since 2001 and giving broadcast TV more reason to fear its future in awards and viewers.

Hulu's "The Handmaid's Tale" scored 20 nominations - seven better than past year - and is an early favorite to repeat as the victor for best drama in September. It was followed by NBC's CMSCA.O sketch show "Saturday Night Live" and HBO's sci-fi series "Westworld" with 21 nominations each, and Hulu's dystopian vision "The Handmaid's Tale" with 20.
In the comedy categories, hip-hop-themed FX show "Atlanta" is up against Amazon's "The Marvelous Mrs Maisel", ABC's "black-ish", female wrestling show "GLOW", "Curb Your Enthusiasm", quirky comedy "Barry", tech comedy "Silicon Valley" and "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt".
"I feel tremendous gratitude and joy with this nomination" and am "thrilled" for the show's cast and crew, Oh said in a statement. "We are pleased to have these two talented performers join us to announce this year's Emmy nominees and to celebrate television excellence". Atlanta leads in comedy series nominations with 16, and RuPaul's Drag Race and The Voice each had 10 nominations to lead in the reality-competition category. Top of the Lake: China Girl, shot in Sydney, also missed out in other categories, including best limited TV series, while lead actress Elisabeth Moss failed to earn a nomination. Legend's nomination for Jesus Christ, Superstar means he can add an Emmy to the Grammy, Oscar and Tony he already has on his shelf.
