The AMR-badged, four-door Rapide follows hot on the heels of the DB11 AMR (which we've driven in Germany), and is based on the concept shown at the Geneva International Motor Show in 2017, retaining the gaping front grille and boasting circular daytime running lights that reference recent Zagato models.
New 595bhp Aston Martin Rapide AMR revealed
Upgrades to the 6.0-litre V12, similar to those first seen on the Vantage GT12, consist of an enlarged inlet manifold, revised engine mapping, and a quad tailpipe setup to liberate more vocal roar. As a result, power is quoted at 595bhp - 53bhp up on the normal Rapide S - produced at a tingly 7000rpm. It rides 10 mm lower than the Rapide S and the three stage adaptive dampers have been tweaked to support this initiative. There are also standard carbon-ceramic brake discs that have six-piston calipers in front and four-piston stoppers in the rear.

If customers feel like spending more, Aston will offer the Rapide AMR with plenty of options. To further aid brake cooling, the Rapide AMR uses a version of the Vanquish S's cooling system with modified brake ducts and dust shields. Aston Martin says it only plans to make just 210 of the cars to sell worldwide, each priced from $240,000.

Talking about the model, Aston boss Andy Palmer said the model's "enhanced performance, sharper dynamics and more powerful design language... has taken Rapide to new and exciting extremes". Both the Standard and Silhouette schemes are available with Mariana Blue, Scintilla Silver, Lightning Silver and Onyx Black exterior finishes. Silhouette adds a full-length contrasting stripe in either China Grey or Clubsport White. The latter gets Stirling Green paint with lime accents and stripe, drawing the closest visual link to the livery of Aston race cars.
These design schemes are reflected on the interior as well, available with either AMR Lime or Galena Silver welting and stitching. Customers will gets a full-length carbon fibre centre console and Alcantara seats with AMR logos. The Aston Martin Rapide AMR will be available globally with the exception of China and Russian Federation and is available from £194 950 in the United Kingdom, $240 000 in the USA and €229 950 in Germany, with first customer deliveries in Q4 2018. The auto will be available worldwide with the exception of China and Russian Federation, and customer deliveries are scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2018.
