With both party primaries set for Tuesday, strong Democratic candidates are expected to emerge to challenge almost every major statewide office now held by Nevada Republicans, offering Democrats their best shot in years to seize political control over the state.

If you haven't registered to vote, it will be too late to vote in the primary, but you still have until October 15 to be able to vote in the November general election.
Under the system, used now in a few local jurisdictions, the election is over if one candidate wins a majority. But this year, Democrats are poised to finally make that jump.

Cramer, 57, is the GOP's top choice, after he changed his mind this spring and said he would run for Senate rather than stay in the House. One is Sen Heidi Heitkamp's seat in North Dakota. He enjoys high name recognition and has a hefty campaign account.

But this year, some Nevada Democrats who normally wouldn't vote in the midterms say they are turning out to make their voices heard.

Democrats in VA-07: Candidates are Abigail Spanberger and Dan Ward; incumbent is Rep. Dave Brat (R). The victor will face incumbent Rep. Dave Brat (R - 7th District). But if Sanford loses - a real possibility - it'll be because of his criticisms of the president. In Arlington County, voters will choose between two Democrats to run against incumbent County Board member John Vihstadt (I).
