The melon may be tainted with a unsafe strain of salmonella bacteria. Overall, 60 people have been infected with the strain - six in IL, 11 in IN, 32 in MI, 10 in Missouri and one in OH - and 31 people have been hospitalized.
The packages of pre-cut watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, and fresh-cut mixed fruit products were produced by Caito Foods in a facility in Indianapolis, Ind.
Officials said people reported contracting salmonella after eating pre-cut melon between April 30 and May 28.

At least 60 people have been sickened and dozens have been hospitalized with salmonella after tainted pre-cut melons were distributed to stores such as Walmart, Kroger, Costco and Whole Foods in several states, federal officials said.
Illnesses from the fruit were reported in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri and Ohio.
The investigation is ongoing to determine if products went to additional stores or states, the agencies said.

The list of recalled products related to this outbreak is absolutely huge. They are sold all over the United States, including in Georgia, Kentucky, and North Carolina, in addition to the states that already have confirmed salmonella cases on their hands.
