Combining zombie action, intelligent comedy, quirky romance, and an extended Bill Murray cameo, the film - written by the pair and directed by Ruben Fleischer - was a surprise smash, earning $102.4 million on a $23.6 million budget. During an interview with Vulture, writers of the original film, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, enticed fans by saying Zombieland 2 is hoping for a 2019 release.
The original Zombieland starred Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin as survivors of a zombie apocalypse. And, according to Reese and Wernick, it looks like they might not have to wait much longer.
