President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Kayode Fayemi, Minister of Mines and Solid Mineral Development, for emerging the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the July 14 Ekiti State governorship election.
The former governor also alleged that Governor Fayose spent the last three and half years in office doing nothing but, instead, took the state backwards.
The spokesman urged party members and aspirants to see the outcome of the primary as a collective victory for the APC and the people of Ekiti.
He described the election as a reclamation battle to ensure the people are freed from the pangs of poverty, deprivation and bad governance.
Mr Al-Makura, governor of Nasarawa State, said that delegates and other party members supported the process with cooperation and orderly behaviour.More news: How to set up Gmail offline mode
The incumbent governor said the defeat would be worst than what Dr. Fayemi suffered in the 2014 poll, adding that the APC candidate, who clinched his party ticket on Saturday should not celebrate yet.
"Once Ekiti people come out en-mass and vote for the APC, we will defend our result and ensure that we reclaim what truly belongs to us", he said.
"Dr Fayemi in the full glare of everybody had apologized to the teachers, civil servants, artisans and those who might be affected by his policies as a governor, I beg our people to accept his apologies". Reacting to President Buhari's congratulatory message to Fayemi, Governor Fayose tweeted on Monday: "President Buhari congratulating Fayemi on his emergence as APC candidate is like day-dreaming".

He noted that it was only Ekiti state in the South West that was not in the APC fold, this he said, showed that the zone was APC.
"Dr Fayemi had visited me and I have accepted wholeheartedly to work with him in the interest of our party".
"I would also like to commend all the participants in the keenly-contested Primary".
He said that APC has taken internal democracy seriously, and the success of the Ekiti Primary, with more than 30 aspirants, further validates our party's democratic credentials.
