A Star Wars Story arrives

The only major studio tentpole in official selection at next month's Cannes Film Festival, Solo: A Star Wars Story is also bound to be the Riviera event's hottest ticket. Thandie Newton (Westworld) plays Val, Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Goodbye Christopher Robin) is L3-37, Paul Bettany (Avengers: Infinity War) plays Dryden Vos, and Joonas Suotamo (Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi) is Chewbacca.

We also get a sneak peek at another very important moment between them: when Han asks Chewie's name.

The sequence has been teased in the trailers for the latest non-Skywalker entry in the Star Wars universe, and promises a different kind of action to the usual epic battles and lightsaber duels. Which, honestly, makes me more eager than anything else to see it. Now the audience will see how Chewbacca and Han Solo met. In the clip, Han says tells Chewie: "You think everything sounds like a bad idea", which, if you're traveling with Han is likely true so can't blame Chewie for that one.

Perhaps my favorite scene from this new footage is at the Sabacc table where Han is facing Lando (presumably this is where he wins the Millennium Falcon).

There were so many exciting things in this new TV Spot! For what it's worth, as it regards Han Solo, he's right a lot of the time. Disney today dropped another look at the Ron Howard-directed origins story that traces the beginnings of smuggler, ace pilot and charming scoundrel, Han Solo.
