The Next Level! Uber Now Offers Car Rentals

Uber has been busy lately, and today the news comes down that Uber has teamed with car-sharing service Getaround to produce Uber Rent.
Uber Bike: In a co-venture with JUMP Bikes, Uber has added a dockless electric bicycle sharing system to its app lineup.
Uber took another step toward becoming the king of mobility-on-demand on Wednesday by integrating electric bicycle rental, public transit, and auto sharing into its mobile app.

"As we think about a solution for urban mobility for cities, we have to have a solution for auto ownership and we have to work together to make sure that living in a city or living in an urban destination doesn't require you to own a vehicle", he said.
Mobile ticketing developer Masabi announced on April 11 that it has entered into a strategic partnership with on-demand taxi company Uber which would integrate public transport tickets into the Uber app. In January, Uber launched a pilot to allow users to book rides on Jump's bikes in San Francisco in its app.
"We are about mobility - making mobility available to everyone, everywhere", Uber Chief Executive Officer Dara Khosrowshahi said at a forum on Wednesday in Washington.

Khosrowshahi said the new strategy does not move Uber away from a future that includes autonomous vehicles, despite a fatal accident involving one of its cars last month in Arizona.
Uber previously said it considers bicycles and public transportation as a way to cut down on environmental and traffic congestion. In addition, the perk of employer-funded transit passes is viewed as being more important to job satisfaction than having access to parking.
