A fire burning on Fort Carson's Range 155 Friday traveled off post and burned an unknown number of homes in a large area south of Fountain, according to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office. The 3300-acre fire is 40% contained as of 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office ordered evacuations in the area of Midway Ranch southeast of the Pikes Peak International Raceway. For updates visit: Fort Carson and Pueblo and El Paso County Sheriffs' office Facebook pages, twitter accounts, or websites.
"The number of affected structures has not yet been determined ... a decision will be made on when residents can return home once the damage assessment has been completed", officials said in a press release.

About 250 homes have been evacuated due to the fire, which started on a Fort Carson training range Friday morning.
El Paso and Pueblo County assessment teams are conducting damage assessments of the impacted areas and structures.
The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office said none of those have been in Pueblo County. That means the fire has grown so large and unsafe that it needs enhanced monitoring and coordination to contain.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Friday evening, Elder was confident that crews could extinguish the fire. Fort Carson is the lead agency. Around 100 homes were put on evacuation order in that area.
Deputies say controlled traffic access for evacuation purposes only is at I-25 exit 119 at Rancho Colorado Blvd. The north boundary is now Donner Pass View, the south boundary is at County Line Road, the east boundary is at I25, and the west boundary is at Fort Carson Route 1. Eastern, the fire had grown to 2,032 acres, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff.
An evacuation center has been set up for residents at Fountain Valley Baptist Church at 500 W. Alabama Ave.in Fountain. Helicopters are performing water drops in an attempt to slow the fire's spread, KOAA reported, and crews from Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, Black Forest, Hanover, Falcon, and the Cimarron Hills Fire Departments are working to contain the blaze.More news: Russia Summons British Ambassador, Readies To Expel Diplomats
