The stretch between Majlis Park and Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus is part of a longer 58.9-km "ring corridor", which will become the longest metro line in the country, when completed.
On the Delhi Metro's Phase IV project and rapid rail system connecting the national capital with Meerut, Puri had recently said that the AAP-led city government was "sitting on the project". It will become the second Delhi Metro corridor to be operated using the Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling technology which facilitates movement of trains with a frequency of 90 to 100 seconds.

On the issue of metro fare raised by Mr Kejriwal, Mr Puri said the fare of the metro is decided by fare fixation committee and not by the Central and State Government. Rail corridors, we will do on our own.
"If they (Delhi government) are not willing to approve a project or provide funding, we are finding out a solution for it", the urban affairs minister had said.

The 21.56 km-long corridor, once opened, will also reduce metro travel time between Dwarka 21 (Blue Line) and Rithala (Red Line) by over 16 minutes; and Rajouri Garden and Azadpur by almost 23 minutes, the DMRC said.
Delhi now has the 12th largest metro network in the world.
Azadpur Station (with Yellow Line) is one of the three interchange stations on the Pink Line stretch that opened today, the other two being, Netaji Subhash Place (with Red Line) and Rajouri Garden (Blue Line).
