Spinning out of the previous animated incarnation of DC's Teen Titans, the frequently over-the-top Teen Titans Go! offers a comedic take on on the young superhero team of Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Raven and Beast Boy, and frequently features parodies and juvenile humor. And now, in what is perhaps the greatest casting joke/cameo in superhero history (sorry, Stan Lee), they've gotten Nicolas Cage to be their Superman.
It seems Nicolas Cage will finally get to play Superman after all.
Sorry you had to see that. Cage's Superman fandom isn't much of a secret; he once owned a rare copy of the hero's 1938 debut comic, and he named his son Kal-El in honor of Superman's Kryptonian name.More news: Lok Sabha impasse continues, no 'sign' of govt outreach to opposition
USA Today reports Cage has joined the cast, along with singer/songwriter Halsey, who will be voicing Wonder Woman, and rapper Lil Yachty will voice Green Lantern.
Now, more than 20 years later, Cage will play Superman in the animated film Teen Titans GO! to the Movies.
"Teen Titans GO! to the Movies" finds our egocentric, wildly satirical Super Heroes in their first feature film extravaganza-a fresh, gleefully clever, kid-appropriately crass and tongue-in-cheek play on the superhero genre, complete with musical numbers.More news: Foreign Law Firms Not Allowed To Practice In India
Warner Bros. previously announced the involvement of Will Arnett ("The Lego Batman Movie") and Kristen Bell ("Frozen"), but the Cage casting is notable for the actor's long obsession with the character and the intrigue around "Superman Lives", which was announced, but never filmed.
Teen Titans Go! To the Movies will be the first theatrical release based on a Warner Bros. animated series since 1993's Mask of the Phantasm, based on Batman: The Animated Series.
