We're just days away from the likely announcement of the Sony Xperia XZ2, and yet the leaked images we've seen haven't provided much consensus on the design, but perhaps the most convincing image yet has just emerged, showing off the phone in full ahead of a likely launch at MWC 2018, with Sony recently teasing of new debutantes there. Despite the display sizes, reports suggest that both these smartphones share largely the same features, which include Android Oreo and Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 845 chipset (also to be featured in upcoming Galaxy S9 and S9+). Both phones have Gorilla Glass 5 protecting their full-HD LCDs.More news: Child injured by dog during boarding for Southwest flight
In terms of camera technology, the Xperia XZ2 will have the same 19-megapixel camera setup that's found on the XZ Premium from previous year. The specs leak on the Compact version reveal that the two phones will have almost the same specs, with the only difference being the display size. The larger XZ2 gets a larger 3,180mAh battery compared to the Compact's 2,870mAh cell and the former also gets wireless charging. Hopefully that's the only smartphone trend Sony won't adopt. While the XZ2 will come in four different colorways (black, silver, green, and pink), the Compact's color options were not revealed. The camera setup on the XZ2 Compact will differ slightly, but no further details were shared about the smaller phone's camera.
In another big design shake-up, the fingerprint scanner has moved from the side of the phone, to the rear, underneath the camera. Though there might be slight variations or unique hues swapped between the XZ2 and XZ2 Compact.More news: Myanmar bulldozed scores of Rohingya villages, says human rights group
Sony is expected to unveil a handful of phones in Barcelona next Monday, including the Xperia XZ Pro (the successor to the Xperia XZ Premium), the Xperia XZ2 (a follow-up to the Xperia XZ) and the Xperia XZ2.
Due out in stores "sometime in March", the XZ2 Compact will allegedly pack a 2870mAh battery, which the XZ2 should bump up to 3180mAh capacity.More news: German figure skater performs to 'Schindler's list, receives flak
